AHA wants to help you through your entire construction process to ensure that the home you are building will meet all the mandated energy code requirements as well as your own specific goals, be they for tax credits, advanced home performance or other.
To be most effective we recommend that you contact us as early in the design process as possible, but we can start consulting at any phase of construction.
AHA Energy Analysis for new construction may include:
Performance Goals Meeting: A meeting to review plans and discuss how best to achieve goals such as:
Home Performance which meets ENERGY STAR® or New Mexico’s Sustainable Building Tax Credits
Enhanced comfort and building energy performance.
HERS ratings and other details to satisfy the City of Santa Fe’s mandatory Green Building Code.
Testing and Consulting:
Once goals are determined a plan for testing and consulting can be made and put into action, which may include some or all of the following:
Computer modeling from plans for a projected HERS rating or for detailed energy advice
Thermal bypass consultation – for Energy Star thermal bypass checklist
On-site thermal bypass check and insulation grade inspections for HERS and Energy Star
Blower door tests for air infiltration
Duct tests for duct leakage
Monitoring and advising on all aspects of Santa Fe’s Green Building Code, including overseeing your project through all the applicable stages to completion End of project testing:
Blower door test for air-leakage,
Combustion appliance checks
Lighting & electrical assessment
Update the computer modeling to quantify the performance.
Santa Fe Green Building Code
The City of Santa Fe now has some of the strictest mandatory Green Building Codes in the country. AHA can consult with you throughout the design and building process to make code compliance as simple and smooth as possible. All houses will have to pass a HERS rating with a maximum score of 70, with larger houses expected to meet stricter energy efficiencies. AHA consultants can advise you on ways to meet these new and challenging goals. Please contact us with your questions about the new code – we have undertaken extensive study of the code and can streamline the entire process for you.
About Energy Star
We are proud to provide rating services to qualify new homes for the ENERGY STAR® label. ENERGY STAR qualified new homes are substantially more energy efficient than homes built to the minimum code requirements. Even in states with more rigorous energy codes, the U.S. EPA ensures that ENERGY STAR remains the symbol for truly energy-efficient performance. These homes are good for businesses, consumers, and the environment.
